December 1 begins the season of Advent, a time of anticipation and preparation of the coming of Christ, culminating with Christmas. The term literally means “the approach” or “the arrival.” Jesus instructs His followers to “Watch. Stay awake. Get ready and prepare!” In each of the December worship services, various members of our church family will lead us in readings to prepare our hearts to receive the Christ Child.

In addition to what happens in the worship service, the following online resources may also guide you and your families through this month of Advent:

  • The Advent Project - Biola University produces this daily, content–rich, media–filled resource incorporating devotionals, artwork, music, and videos. It begins December 2 and continues through January 7.
  • Good News of Great Joy - John Piper wrote these daily readings for Advent in the form of a printable document.
  • Family Advent Guide - LifeWay Christian Resources created this printable document including devotions, activities, and discussion questions that will help us celebrate the birth of Jesus with our kids.
